10:04:43 From Leah Watkins : Hey everyone, been awhile for me also. Friendly Canadian here – working in the Western Hockey League for the Winnipeg ICE Hockey Club (Director, Business Operations) https://www.linkedin.com/in/leahjaywatkins/
10:04:48 From Stewart Macdonald : Hi Everyone, I work at Sacred Heart College in Adelaide. https://www.linkedin.com/in/stewart-macdonald1986/
10:08:12 From Bronson Mokabela : Bronson Mokabela, South Africa, Founder & Managing Director for Digigage Sports & Entertainment, https://www.linkedin.com/in/bronson-tebogo-mokabela/
10:09:07 From Tod Caflisch : Tod Caflisch – Texas – Sports Technology Consultant – TechFoundry – https://www.linkedin.com/in/tcaflisch/
10:13:03 From Paul Bains : British & Irish Lions is an every 4 year tour that rotates round SA, Australia & NZ and is the biggest windfall for those countries financially. However it is very much about the touring fans as much as the TV audience
10:13:24 From Paul Bains : That’s all from a rugby union point of view
10:16:25 From Tod Caflisch : Welcome Steve!
10:16:36 From Paul Bains : What do you podcast about?
10:16:40 From Bronson Mokabela : Thanks Paul. As you have indicated, the tour will not be as “successful” without any fans – local or inbound.
10:17:16 From Paul Bains : Bronson: I can’t see the tour going ahead without the 50K touring fans
10:19:50 From Paul Bains : Interesting mindset change from a team with one base to a formula with multiple different venues and fan bases
10:20:12 From Mitch Siwek : @Paul – I chat with sports industry professionals about their careers and what is currently happening in the industry. I started listening to sportsbiz podcasts this year (one being Sean's) but 95% of the other were all US based so I started mine to give a voice to those working within the industry in Australia. 10:21:00 From David Mackay : As someone who works across a lot of industries – every industry thinks they are unique.
10:34:25 From Paul Bains : We still have a lot of smaller businesses that like the corporate entertainment side of sponsorship here in NZ
10:36:32 From Paul Bains : Is it a big difference between sports that have team home and those that are tournament based eg tennis, nazcar, etc…
10:38:07 From Paul Bains : I’ve seen provinces use short term contracts instead of having full-time media people. Where there a 12 week league it makes sense
10:39:26 From Leah Watkins : I like the short term contract idea. We have put a “COVID-19 Clause” in every contract guaranteeing partners will receive a credit or partial refund if the contracts cannot be executed to full value
10:40:38 From Mitch Siwek : I think a good example with this is the Aus Open where I think I saw that because they can open the roof on the three main courts, they are able to host more spectators because it's classified as an open stadium (this might have changed since).
10:41:50 From Paul Bains : Mike going to be interesting how that impacts the heat/weather protocols at the Australian Open work without being able to close to roof
10:43:07 From Paul Bains : Yup NZR said they need a minimum of 8 teams for the league to be sustainable. They only have 5 teams….
10:44:25 From Paul Bains : Mainstream media (news outlets) initially talked about esports but that doesn’t look like it’s stuck
