Ryan Lochte He beat Michael Phelps. Need any more reasons?
Patty Mills Despited struggling from 3, Patty led the Boomers in a stirring comeback vs. Brazil and captured the hearts of a nation.
Hope Solo The goalkeeper for the US Women's Soccer Team is a fiery character, as evidenced by this tweet. Sure to have some more controversial tweets over the next fortnight
Deron Williams Deron gets the nod here for his work on integrating Instagram into Twitter. He's picked up the #gotem (got 'em) started by DeAndre Jordan, so keep an eye out for more unsuspecting sleeping bsketballers!
Asafa Powell One of the world's fastest men and, arguably, one of the most active tweeps at the Olympics. Producing some great inside pics of his training and the Village.
Emily Seebohm Could be the next Australian golden girl with a great final tonight. Follow here now so you can get behind her!
Richard Deitsch Yeah, I know. He's not an athlete. If there was an event for who tweeted the best links relating to London 2012, Deitsch would win gold and silver.
Stephanie Rice Hasn't medaled yet, but has definitely been giving her thumbs a workout. Very active on Twitter, which is great for fans.
Jason Richardson Hasn't had an event yet but has dropped 41 tweets since the opening ceremony. Different sort of cat, so check him out before his event, the 110m hurdles
Michael Phelps Hasn't dominated in the pool yet, but has remained active on Twitter throughout. Being his last Games, he'll continue to be a good follow

Honorable mention:

Alex Ovechkin – The ice hockey superstar isn't even competing in the Summer Olympics, but has been all over the action through being there to support his girlfriend, Russian tennis star Maria Kirilenko. You should definitely follow him for some cool snaps of him with, seemingly, as many professional athletes as he can chase down.
